Composer Shortlist
Each year spnm runs an open Call for Works, from which it selects a shortlist of new works deemed worthy of professional performances. spnm then promotes the composers of these works for three years, programming the works throughout its nationwide season of events and offering further opportunities and professional development openings that are exclusive to shortlisted composers.
If you are a performer looking for contemporary repertoire, you can search the database of shortlisted works and composers. Many of the UK's leading composers - including Peter Maxwell Davies, Alexander Goehr, Richard Rodney Bennett, Brian Ferneyhough, Judith Weir, Mark-Anthony Turnage and James MacMillan - received their first professional performances through spnm. Biographies and programme notes can be found in this section of the website, and scores can be requested from the spnm office.
